A lifestyle? Of nothing but this game?
[That seemed a little... pointless. It isn't like he isn't aware of professional sports (not everyone can be a ninja), and everyone has to make money somehow, but... Well, he's not an entertainer.
When the ball comes his way, he pulls back his one fist and smacks it hard, sending it flying up toward the ceiling.]

[ After Sasuke bullies him into it...yeah.]

Um...Hinata-kun? It's Shinji Ikari. I was the one who bumped into you on Ajna when we were loading samples...
[God, why did he even agree to do this? This is so stupid. Why is he asking this? What good will playing volleyball do anyway? Besides, what if Hinata will hate him? What if he throws the ball in his face and breaks his nose?]
FROM: ikari.shinji@cdc.org
Uchiha-san told me to ask you to teach me how to play volleyball so I was wondering if you would...

I suppose in a more peaceful world...
[If ninjas hadn't been a part of his world, if war hadn't always been a possibility looming over the horizon, would he have taken up a game like this one?
It's hard to judge how things would have been in another time.
He hits the ball again, and it goes careening off to the side. He scowls at this. Sasuke has trained himself to have exceptional aim, but he hasn't done anything that involved hitting a ball with one fist.]

[Well that was a rather enthusiastic reply.]

Um...okay.
[And true to his word Shinji shows up at the training room looking nervous in a t-shirt and shorts, along with his running shoes he'd always worn back home.]

[Looking down at his hand, Sasuke does as instructed (even if he feels a little silly for it). He can see how the thumb might get in the way.]
Alright. Try again.
Alright. Try again.
Ah, hey.
[He remembers him from when they'd tumbled together in the snow. Hinata looks, well, tired, but he seems unusually cheerful. As for Shinji's file...all he can hope is that Hinata didn't read it.]
Hinata-kun, right?

(OOC: I couldn't quite remember which day was better for you, so tentatively 73 but we can move it; just let me know. Changed to 72!)
[Talk to him. You clearly want to. What Nic had signed to Kino still stood out bright in the kid's mind, but... no, it never could end up being that simple. Both Kino and Hinata were astoundingly headstrong and stubborn kids—Kino was absolutely resolute and steadfast in denying that they had done anything wrong in denying him his offer to go act as live bait for whatever was hunting them, and he was just the same in standing by that offer, standing by wanting to help.
Kino understood wanting to help. The traveler usually felt it in each country they visited—a specter of long past, a kid who would flag down a stranger no one else trusted so she could offer him a room in her parents' inn. But that sort of magnanimity had to be reigned in; Master had taught Kino that. A traveler was never a savior; they simply passed through.
This nature stood at odds to Kino here, someone standing between helping the recruits they found a good deal of kinship in and doing what they were called to do to bring about widespread destruction. Kino could never say which one felt stranger. Offering help should feel better morally, but... things rarely seemed to work out that way either.
It was that, along with plenty of apprehension about this ominous training, which had the traveler lingering in the hall outside the Black Box training rooms. Several had already come and go—offering the kid odd glances and perhaps a passing hello. Kino always reacted politely, but a moment's silence would cause them to regress to a sort of cryptic silence, face marked with tired eyes and a mouth set into a slight frown.
They knew (from previous observation) that he had gone inside. It was simply a matter of waiting. That was fine. Kino was patient.]

[He might think the game is silly, but Sasuke's not someone to easily give up on something.

i'm not sure i'd like to know what you're getting at concerning this possible inappropriate usage of cdc equipment. it sounds vaguely painful and highly disturbing.
for one, i hope nothing blunt was involved. for another, keep your strange urges to yourself.
